i know it's been forever since i've updated, but if you're a mom, then you know my wonderful excuse. Just thought I'd share a few pictures with you of my sweet girl at 6 months.

Oh, and she's crawling like crazy! She'll be 9 months this Friday. Where does the time go?I had the luck to have a snow day off from school in january, so I finally painted my murals in Georgia's room.

I know it's been forever since I had a real post, but as I've mentioned life is way more than crazy. So this maybe a little bit of a sad post. First of all, I have had the flu for 2 days now and I'm pretty sure it's the swine flu. The doctor said it was type A and that could mean plain old flu or swine flu, but considering that I've had my flu shot my bet's on swine flu. Even more heart wrenching is that I gave it to Georgia. My poor sweet baby has been running a fever, can't seem to sleep very well, and just plain isn't herself. She tested positive for flu as well. The doctor said Tylenol, rest, and fluids for both of us, but that sure doesn't seem to cut it when I hear her little voice in pain. Good luck to Pat, I suppose we'll see exactly how strong his immunity really is now.

Also, about 3 weeks ago the doctor told us that Georgia was not gaining weight fast enough and to start supplementing with formula. So we did for a week and she still only gained 2 oz. So we decided to wait it out a bit longer and ignore the doctor's advice to supplement after EVERY meal with an extra 2 oz. She was doing pretty well with that...but it did make me realize how very exhausted, stressed, and overworked I was becoming. So after a hard weekend of thinking and crying and deciding, tomorrow morning will be the last time that I get to breastfeed my Georgia. Oh great...her come my tears.

It's so strange. Before I got pregnant I was 100% not planning on breastfeeding at all, but then the scholar in me got to work on researching. After reading so many wonderful things that breastfeeding provides for a baby, from brain development to weight control to higher i.q. to bonding with the mother, there was no way that I could say no. So I read all that I could get my hands on and after a rocky start with her tongue tie, we breastfed successfully for almost 5 months. It breaks my heart now to think about the sweet coes that she makes when she's feeding and how she closes her eyes in comfort (not like the bottle when she is as wide-eyed as can be). I think about her gently stroking my arm as she eats....I know that this is time that I will always remember with my precious little peach and I am so sad to see it go. I love that baby girl more than I ever thought possible and I'm praying that the bond that we have made is unbreakable, even if we didn't make our 1 year goal.

I have to know that I did the right thing for her by feeding her for over 4 months and that she will be healthier and smarter for it. And now, I have to make sure I take care of me so that I can be a better mother for her. I just know that tomorrow morning will be the best and hardest moment of my time with her so far.

Sorry for the lack of posting lately, but as I mentioned last time life is more than a little bit crazy with a 2 month old.

We should hear from the realtor tomorrow and set up our closing appointment for Thursday, Friday, or Monday....that means getting the keys sometime between Monday and Thursday! I am so excited to finally be in our OWN home. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure that this is all real. I have an amazing family and we are about to live in our own perfect little house and teach in great schools in a sweet little town. LOVE IT! (p.s. we'll take any moving help that you are willing to give, in Bryan or in Waxahachie PLEEEEEEASE!)

Georgia slept through the entire night 2 nights ago! It's amazing how much better you feel after a good night's sleep. She is also getting more alert every day. What an amazing little wonder she is. She is such a Daddy's girl and I love it that way. She has already stolen Pat's heart and I think he will forever be wrapped around his little finger.

I am so sorry to my loyal followers...I know that it has been way too long since I updated, but if you've ever had a little baby, looked for a house, job hunted, moved, or done all of these at once, then you understand.

So...now we are staying in Duncanville at the Reid's. It was just too hard to travel the 3 hours back and forth every weekend (plus some) to job hunt and house hunt. It was really a very good decision for us and thanks to Steve and Linda for staying at thier house and my parents for an extra set of hands we are feeling much less stressed out as of late.

If you are wondering, I officially have a job for 2009-2010! I am going to be teaching 1st grade at Felty Elementary in Waxahachie ISD. I have an amazing principal who told me that she has wanted me on her campus since I interviewed with her way back in April at the TCU job fair. I know she's going to back me through thick and thin. I also have a great team. 3 of them have already called or texted me to welcome me and I am hanging out with several of them on Thursday! FUN! This is going to be so good...regular education, younger kids, a good district (and the same district as Pat, which means the same days off), great team and principal, pay raise...all is good!

Also, our other big news is that we have gotten an offer accepted on the house that we want. As long as the inspection and loan go through, it's all ours! We think it will be just right for us. It's 10 minutes from Pat's school and about 5 from mine.

My sweet girl gets more alert and attentive every day and she has gotten sooo big. We are starting to get smiles and giggles now. LOVE it! She can almost hold her little head up by herself and she loves to push with her legs. Sometime I think she'll walk before she crawls. We have even started to wean her of the shield when feeding and I have to say I love it the natural way much more. Come visit us any time!

Well Georgia is now 17 days old and we had our 2-weeks doctor's appointment on Wednesday. All went very well. She weighs 7 lbs. 11 oz. (up 7 oz. from her birth weight) now. We found out she has an immature tear duct, which is not medically bad or anything, but it does mean that she's going to have a goopy, yucky eye for up to 6 months. We just need to clean it with a wet washcloth until it clears up or she hits 6 months and then if it's not gone we'll go to an eye doctor to have it taken care of. Georgia also had a heal prick for blood tests. The nurse took her out of the room to the blood work room and I almost threw up waiting in the exam room for her to get back because I was so worried. Turns out that she slept through the entire thing...crazy little girl with crazy high pain tolerance and crazy hard sleep.

We were lucky enough to have Uncle Noah and Aunt Heidi visit us yesterday and today. All I have to say is...when can you move in, Heidi?

Georgia has now had her first bottle (full of breast milk, no worries my fellow lactaters) and her first pacifier. She's not so sure about the bottle, but that's okay because it's just for once in a while until I go back to work in August. She does however love herself some pacie...but what baby doesn't?

We have plans to make our first road trip to Duncanville/Cedar Hill June 6. So...please keep your eye on this and my facebook for our tentative schedule. We're going to try our best to carve out time for the Reid's, time for the Elder's, and time for our friends. I really hope that everyone who wants to gets to meet my sweet baby girl.

People have asked me lately about my employment status...no DFW job yet, but I do have a slight lead on a kindergarten position in Maypearl, so cross your fingers!

Well, back to enjoying a lazy Saturday with Pat and Georgia!!!

A tired, but happy mommy and baby! It seemed like forever before I got to hold her.

Georgia was born at 10:56 p.m. after I pushed for only 7 minutes! However, she did have a knot in her umbilical cord and it was wrapped around her neck 2 times. She was a little miracle baby, but she did have to get some oxygen right after birth and get amniotic fluid suctioned out of her as well.

Things were quite intense before we got to push. At 9 p.m., Dr. Damian told me that we would probably need to do a C-Section because I was not progressing past 8 cm dilated and Georgia was not coming down into my pelvis. I asked to wait a few hours and try all of our options. At this point, there was a staff change and we got an awesome new nurse who got the doctor to start up pitocin again. She also put me into all kinds of weird positions, but the worked! At 10:40, she said I was at 9 1/2 cm dialated and that she was way down and ready to come out! No C-Section for us!

The other intense moment happened just after my epidural. My blood pressure dropped way down. I got really nausaus, but we got it under control pretty quickly. However, as a result Georgia's heartrate kept dropping after every contraciton (which I was having all on my own-we turned the pitocin off for the epidural and did not turn it back on until about 9 p.m.). They put me on oxygen and I breathed it in really deeply as each contraction faded and it worked to get her heart rate back up.

This one was taken just after we arrived at St. Joeseph's hospital. The started the induction process at 9 a.m. and I labored for 14 hours. When I got there they hooked up the monitors (her heartbeat and my contractions) and told me that I was already contracting on my own...I didn't even know I was already in labor....crazy!

SHE'S HERE!

That's right....the big day has finally arrived! Georgia Elizabeth Reid was born at 10:56 p.m. on May 6, 2009. She was 7 lbs 4.5 oz and 20.5 inches long at birth. I will update with the full birth story as soon as I am feeling a little more up to it. But I'm deffinately proud of myself for staying strong and calm and I am recovering very well. Here are some pictures to tide you over until then.

Here's the news from the doctor...I am still 1 cm and 50% effaced. So he asked if we wanted to be induced and of course I said yes. So the soonest we could get into the hospital is Sunday, May 10 at 10 p.m. I will go in and have medication put into me for the night and then start on pitocin in the morning, so that the baby should be here by Monday, May 11. However, I am first on the hospital's waiting list, so if a woman who is scheduled for induction has her baby, I'll get her spot. Of course, if I go into labor it will be sooner too. Yay for baby coming!!! Keep your eye here for updates.

So...tomorrow is our OB appointment at 9:30 a.m. I'm really pretty nervous because it feels like this will be the one to seal our fate as far as when we expect Miss Georgia to make her grand entrance. We could here that we're scheduling an induction, or we could here that she'll be here shortly on her own, or we could here something else altogether, who knows. I'll try my best to post as soon as I get a chance after the appointment.

In other news, Heidi (my sister) will be here tomorrow and I am way excited to have her here early. I really really really need some good time with a good girlfriend, and the fact that she's my sister and can calm me down and talk me down from just about anything doesn't hurt either!

p.s. just in case you were wondering...I am all for visitors in the hospital (after the delivery unless you are pretty close and want to wait in a waiting room for hours) and I would love love love to see you!

We just got home from the doctor's office and........1 cm and 50% effaced today! He predicts that I will deliver some time next week on my own and has scheduled me to come in for my next appointment Monday at 9:30 a.m. He said that he won't let me go over 40 to 40 1/2 weeks so that means he would induce if necessary and we should have a Georgia by Tuesday the 12th at the latest! He also said that he thinks she will be closer to 8 lbs...no surprise there I've always thought she would be big! I'll keep you updated!!!

So....GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME! I'm so done...I just need Georgia to agree and come on out. Thursday is my last day of teaching for the year and Heidi will be in town this weekend. I'm excited about both of those, but really...how much longer?

15 Days! Final Baby Shower, Lori's Baby, & OB Appointment

37 weeks!

We had an OB appointment today. He checked me and the good news is that he felt Georgia's head. This means that the placenta is out of the way!!! This means no C-section for that reason. The okay news is that I am at zero centimeters (not dilated at all) and 0% effaced (my cervix is still high and thick). He said this means my due date is still accurate as far as he can tell. Everything else was good. Strong, quick heartbeat and she is head down. He predicted her weight to be between 7 and 8 lbs, but she may be bigger if genetics has any role. I was born 9 lbs and Pat was over 8, so we'll see.

We got to visit Lori Bastardo (another formerly pregnant lady from work) and her baby Neythan at the hospital on Sunday. He only weighs 6 lbs and is so tiny, but perfectly beautiful.

19 days until I'm due

Can you believe that? In about 19 days I'll have my sweet little Georgia in my arms! I absolutely can not wait. It is really a strange feeling now. I'm extremely excited to see her, very ready to have her out because I'm getting pretty uncomfortable, a little scared about the delivery and hoping that I know all I need to in order to take care of her, and peaceful that all will go as God wants it to....all at the same time. Like I said, strange.

I have only 2 weeks of school left too. I'm going to miss my Madisonville girls, but at the same time I am so ready for something new. I haven't heard about any jobs yet, but I am hopeful that I can get a general ed job soon-ish.

Just FYI-I would like to know when all of you want "the phone call" to let you know I'm going to the hospital or she has been born. ASAP, in the morning, after she's here, etc? Also, please make sure I have your cell phone number if you want me to text you her first picture!

Job Fairs, Get Away, OB, Belly, and Bluebonnets

Our Dallas Weekend

Wow do I have some catching up to do on here! Since I updated last...I did some baby shopping with my good friend Mary and now I really feel like I'm ready for Miss Georgia to make her big entry into our home. Her nursery looks complete and her bassinet is all set up; all I need now is the baby! Pat and I also went to the Red Oak Job fair. It went pretty well, but they really didn't know about openings yet because they are re-zoning and re-budgeting. I suppose its always good to shake a hand and drop off a resume though.

Last weekend was the big-y job fair though, Midlothian! It went really really well for both me and Pat. We were 2 of the first 3 people in line, so we got to go right into the screening process. We both made it past the initial screening with a MISD board member and onto a short interview with an administrator. I got to talk to the principal from Vitovsky (they have like 4 positions, including a K and 1st) and the principal from Miller Elementary (that's where my friend from high school, Kristin Moulden works). They were both really nice and seems to like the things I was saying. Pat got to talk to admins from both of the middle schools and the high school. The high school teacher even asked if he would be willing to teach ag if the position became available! Fantastic! No offers/calls yet, but we think it's still early and we feel good with our leads from that fair.

After the MISD fair, we headed out to Arlington's job fair and can I just say that it was INSANE! It was a freakin' mad house...there were like over 1000 people there. We stood in line for quite a while, but then we had to go and get to our other plans for the weekend.

That's when our last get-a-way before baby started. I surprised Pat with a weekend away in Dallas. We ate at La Madeline's (on of my biggest cravings since I got pregnant..but there are none in Bryan!), got massages, went shopping, stayed in the hotel we stayed in our wedding night, and had dinner at La Duni in Dallas. We even got to eat lunch with my parents and Grandma and meet up with Katie Couser for coffee on Sunday. It was just what we needed and I think we are more connected and relaxed thanks to it!

So we have finished our prepared child-birth classes and breast-feeding class. I feel a little more ready, but how can you really "prepare" yourself for childbirth?!?

This past Tuesday, Pat took a trip to Stephenville and attended the Tarleton State U teacher job fair. He got to talk with lots of DFW districts and even got some pretty good leads in Cleburne, Cedar Hill, and Richardson! Yay, Pat!'

Tuesday I had my first 3 truly noticeable Braxton Hicks contractions...weird. It really kind of freaked me out, but I went to the OB on Wednesday and every thing is going fine. Her head is down and he said that she is quite long. Her little bottom is just below my ribs and her head is about 3 or 4 inches below my belly button. I guess she's getting her height from Pat! I go back in 2 weeks at 38 weeks. I don't know why, but I just don't think that we are going to make it all the way to May 7, but I guess that's up to Georgia!

Belly-Week 36:Notice the sunburn from my garage sale yesterday. It went great-got rid of a bunch of stuff, hung out with Shauta & Jamie, and even made over $100! WOW! Now that is a great day off if you ask me!

After sleeping in, and getting some breakfast out at the Hullabalu Diner, we decided to get some pictures of us in the bluebonnets today. I am at 36 weeks along in these.

OB appointment & Job fair

I'm having a wonderful spring break! How about you? Monday was prepared childbirth class and we learned even more breathing and gross facts about child birth...fun, fun. Tuesday was a great pre-natal massage and I sooo needed it.

We went to the OB on Wednesday and he reported that all is well. The baby measured appropriately and her heart beat was strong than ever. I told the doctor that I'm just getting really anxious and ready to have my little Georgia in my arms...he warned me that around 37 weeks I'll be absolutely miserable and begging him to "get this thing out of me" and he wanted to warn me now that he won't do that until she is ready...hopeful, huh? That's okay, I'm just glad that with in 6 weeks I'll have the new little love of my life before my eyes. I know that I'm about to find out what true love really is and I can't wait. The other day I was thinking about how God gave his only Son so that we could live. It's always been meaningful to me, but in some way I think that becoming a parent will really help me understand how much love He really showed by giving Jesus up.

Yesterday was a big day for me. After getting up at 4 AM-CRAZY EARLY-I drove to Fort Worth to TCU for their around-the-metroplex interview day. I interviewed with 9 different districts and I got some pretty good leads from a few. Cleburne has a P-K and K job and maybe even a HS Chemistry job for Pat. Cedar Hill seemed to really like me. Waxahachie's rep knows my mother-in-law and goes to Holy Spirit Catholic where I got married. She told me she would definitely be sharing my resume and I'm super excited about that. Everman acted like they were even trying to search high and low for a position for me....so hopefully between all of that I'll get some phone calls and a job! I still have Red Oak's job fair this Saturday and Midlothian's (my top district) next weekend. Pray for us please :). Me and Mary at the State Fair in the fall.

Today I'm chilling out at Mary and Michael's in Lewisville this morning and any minute Mary will be home and we'll be heading out for a girls' day of lunch out and baby shopping! I'm trying to get some of those things that seem essential that I didn't get at my showers, but I'm not going to completely clean out my registries because I am blessed to have one more shower (and Pat's even invited this time) from all the girls at Pat's vet clinic work. But that one is April 19 and I would just go crazy if I didn't feel like I had the "essentials" way before that. It will be fun though. Pat showed me the invite yesterday and its super cute...sage poke-a-dots and a adorable little water-colored teddy bear. I love that it matches the nursery so well.

We have been BUSY this weekend! We decided that it was about time to get the nursery going. So that meant a little shopping, some assembly, lots of clothes washing, laundry folding, organizing, and even a few art projects!

My first project was Georgia's initials...here's the before.

OB Appointment

I had another OB appointment yesterday. He said my glucose test was a 110-great considering that they are looking for it to be under 126. He said my blood pressure was awesome as well. He measured my belly and we heard the heartbeat again-all good there. So everything is proceeding well and we still expect a due date around May 7, although based on the ultrasounds, it doesn't look like I will deliver any earlier than that. Fine with me-she can take her time and come when she is good and ready. I want a nice healthy (fully cooked-lol) baby!

Georgia is more active than ever! She kicks, stretches, and body slams all the time. Once in a while it's annoying, but mostly I just love knowing that she is strong and healthy. She is also getting big and I'm feeling the stretch in my belly and the pressure on my lungs and stomach. I think she'll probably be a big baby considering that Pat and I were both over 8 lbs. at birth. Cross your fingers that she can fit into the adorable "coming home" outfit I got her (in size NB).

In other news-you may notice some changes to my registry...I decided to go ahead and put some of the things from my Babies R Us registry on to my Target registry as well for the benefit of my BCS/Madisonville friends. I am really looking forward to my showers at school and one hosted by some of the ladies at Pat's vet clinic. If you are looking to buy the sweet girl any clothes-I have tons of 3-6m & 6-9m, so aim for 0-3m & 9-12m. Thanks! :)

Well...we went to the doctor yesterday and we have our confirmation. He said it is a girl for sure! I couldn't tell the girl parts but the doctor and Pat saw them just fine.

I also got to see the placenta's position. It has moved up quite a bit from the last ultrasound, but it is still partially blocking the cervix. The official name for what is going on is a "low posterior placenta". The good news is that the doctor thinks that it will continue to move on up and that I will be able to deliver vaginally unless there is excess bleeding during the delivery. If there is, then we will do an emergency c-section. Yay for no bed rest or scheduled c-sections!!!

He took measurements of little Georgia's head, belly, thigh bone, heartbeat, etc. He said that all is well there and she is growing normally. Her head is now facing down toward the exit too :). We only got one picture this time (I'll post it when I have a bit more time). It isn't as clear as the previous ones, but it shows her face from the front including some chubby cheeks, according to the doctor.

One more bit of good news, only 4 pounds gained this month! Woo-hoo!

Just a quick little update...I'm 26 weeks along now and Georgia is kicking like a mad woman. I woke up at 2:30 a.m. last night to her little feet going nuts! Next OB appointment is Feb. 19...feels like forever away, I guess I'm just a little anxious to see her again on U/S and look to see if that crazy placenta has moved.

I had my OB appointment on Monday, and much to my disappointment, he decided to wait one more month before doing another ultrasound. He wants to give my placenta a little more time to move on up, so I guess that good, but no news as to confirmation of the sex of the baby. Until we hear otherwise, though, we are assuming that it is indeed a girl...90% from the doctor or not.

The doctor said that she looks like she's growing just fine and my due date of May 7 looks accurate. All's well!

I'm really looking forward to my baby shower in Dallas at the beginning of March-Thanks to my mom, my mother-in-law, and my 2 best friends Katie and Mary. I'm sure it's going to be awesome. Mostly, I'm just pumped to see all my Dallas friends again.

back to school

After two blissful weeks of Christmas break, I'm back at school this week. I think I need a few days to get used to thing again because boy am I tired! My kids at school have been really well behaved though, so I really can't complain.

Georgia has been busy busy busy kicking more and more often. She almost always wakes me up in the morning, then gets active again between 3 and 5 p.m., and once more right before bed. I love knowing that I am feeling my baby in there-simply amazing! Pat was able to feel almost every kick that I did last night and I know it made him feel good and more of a part of what is happening with her lately.

Is it weird that sometimes I worry that I actually have a little boy in there and that I am offending him when I call him Georgia? I guess we'll be double checking soon anyway.

I'm working hard on job applications for schools in DFW for next year. My top picks are Midlothian, Mansfield, Waxahachie, Venus, and Alvarado. I think I'm addicted to smaller districts now...or at least not quite so "urban". My year in DeSoto was enough of that.

Pat is hard at work too on applications and preparing to take the first of his certification exams. The first one is over the actual biology content. I'm sure that he'll do great, but I know it's gotta be a challenge to get those juices flowing again after 2 and a half years out of college. He's getting his certification for high school biology through iTeachTexas.com and I'm super excited for him!

I felt definitely little kicks the last two days in a row and they are amazing! I even think that I saw 2 of them. Pat thinks that he felt one or two, so I'm still looking forward to when he can feel all that I do. It is absolutely remarkable to feel this little baby inside of me. It really makes my faith confirmed.
Also, we spent two days and a few hours in the car to Houston this last weekend and we are now officially registered. We did Target and Babies 'R Us. The only disappointment of registering is that they are discontinuing a large portion of the line that I fell in love with at Babies 'R Us. They have already discontinued and put on clearance the play-yard, swing, bouncer, highchair, and bassinet. BUMMER! But, the good news is that the bedding itself is not as of now. We went ahead and got the 4-piece bedding set (bumpers, sheet, comforter, bed skirt) when we were there because all organic was 20% off-yay! We're just crossing our fingers that all of the little extras (mobile, lampshade, window valances, blankets, bear stuffed animal that matches) will still be there when our loved ones go to buy. SO, big city folks-if you see ANY of the Nature's Purest Hug Me bedding line go on clearance, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE call me ASAP so that we can act accordingly! Thanks!

Next ultrasound/OB appointment is on January 19 at 4 p.m. I'm a little worried because I already registered and bought some girl's clothes...like anyone is surprised at that ;) Have a great New Year!!!

We just got back from the doctor and it looks like our baby's name will be Georgia Elizabeth Reid! He wouldn't give us the 90% quite yet, but we saw two little butt checks and no turtle in between so we are pretty sure that it's a girl! Everything else was good. We got great shots of the face and arms and hands. We are going to watch because my placenta is lying a little low. He said it should move out of the way as my uterus grows, but we'll do another ultrasound to make sure in a bit...at least that means another chance to check for turtles ;) Have a great Christmas break!

I am getting really really really excited because we only have 4 days until we go for our next ultrasound. Friday at 12:40 we should be finding out whether we are having a baby boy or baby girl! More than anything I'm excited to be able and call the baby by his/her name when I talk to them. One of my kids at school told me that I "gots two babies in there"...I don't know about that, but I suppose we can rule that out after Friday as well.

I'm feeling better finally too! No cold, no headaches, minimal backaches, and minimal tiredness. It feels wonderful to be useful again, at least temporarily. I <3 the 2nd trimester!

In case you were wondering, we have Christmas plans to visit with our "old" college friends the 23rd, see Pat's fam the 24th, and see mine the 25th. Unfortunately it must be short-lived since Pat has to work that Friday. But if any of you teachers want to come see me over the break and help me do some registering that would be fun!

Hormone Dreams

I know that most pregnant women have weird dreams, but seriously? I have had 3 so far. One about Pat dating other people while we were married, one about some weird girl from college stalking me & then it switched to me losing the baby, and one that Pat married someone else instead of me. I have cried with 2 of them. It's silly I know...only dreams, but they are just soooo realistic. Weird indeed.

Several people have asked how they will know if we're having a boy or a girl after my OB appointment on the 19th since it's the last day of school before Christmas...well, keep your eye on the blog. I promise to post that day and tell you!

o we had our OB appointment on Thursday, and we heard that most amazing little sound...our baby's heartbeat! it was so fast and the doctor said that it was very strong. He also reported that everything seems to be going great and healthy! yay! Oh, and I haven't gained any weight in the last month either, so that was good news. Our next appointment is December 19 and we will be having a ultrasound/sonogram (I never know which to call it) in order to try and determine boy or girl...get excited!!!

I had a great pre-natal massage today at the boardwalk spa, and hopefully it will be the first of many during my pregnancy because it really helped me relax. Now on to an afternoon of being lazy!

the little peach

That's right...the baby is already the size of a peach. How fun! My mom emailed me the other day and said that she had gotten a lime the size of a grapfruit and she asked if the baby was that kind of lime-funny stuff. I really like peach because the girl name that we are thinking of is Georgia Elizabeth, so peach is just perfect. Georgia was Pat's idea and Elizabeth is a family name in my family. We are thinking Jack Patrick for a boy. Jack is after my grandpa and Patrick is after Pat of course. Plus I just love classic, yet now somewhat unusual names.

In case you were wondering, the camping trip was a lot of fun. The first night wasn't too cold or uncomfortable, but by the second night I realized that I absolutely needed an air mattress so we ended up in the car for the last hour of sleep. I did manage to join Heidi, Noah, and Pat for a couple-mile-long hike though, with lots of up hill breaks.

Today is the first day that many people have noticed my growing belly. It kind of makes me happy in a strange way, I guess it just makes everything more real.

Well, I'm off to vote...hopefully the lines won't be ridiculous.

Still looking for good prego books if you have any ideas!

I'm getting really excited because this weekend Pat and I are going camping with Heidi and Noah and their small group from church. We are going to Bastrop State Park and staying in tents, so I hope its not too amazingly cold. Cross your fingers for us.

Many of you know that stress has been at an all time high for me lately, but I just wanted you all to rest easy knowing that things are getting better and I know that God's gonna pull us through this. For this too shall pass. I've really had a good couple of days and the count down is on until Thanksgiving break-21 days and then only 15 after that until Christmas break. Speaking of which, who wants to get together over Christmas break? Pat has to work, but I'll be free as a bird for 2 weeks.

Pregnancy advice question: I already read Belly Laughs and The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy...I'm slowly reading What to Expect When You're Expecting, but I need a fun book too about pregnancy, or at least a funny one. Any suggestions?

Our little lime!

I'm very happy to report that our baby is now approximately the size of a lime. If you know me then you know I love this one! I'm even starting to have a little bit of a belly and everyone keeps telling me that I have a "glow"...whatever that means. I think it's a good thing though and I am definitely okay with looking pregnant. At least I have a more obvious excuse for my strange, exhausted, nauseous, moody behavior now.

In other news, it looks like moving to Dallas/Fort Worth is the plan for sure after the baby is born. I just can't imagine trusting my baby's care into someone who isn't family when he/she is so small. And after visiting friends and family this last weekend, I know that home is the best place to get all of the support that I'm sure we will desperately need.

I will post new belly pictures soon, I'm a little behind on that. Sorry. Next doctor's appointment is November 13, so I'll have even more to share then.

Pregnancy Advice question: How in the heck do you answer the question of "do you want a boy or a girl?" Really?

Not a whole lot to update, except I had a great Monday! My kids at school we're on the ball, we had an assembly, and I made it through the day without feeling like a zombie. Woo hoo! It's funny how little things can be such a big deal.

I am starting to get really excited because Monday is my first official OB appointment and I will probably get a sonogram and pics to go along with it! Amanda Carter just got hers and you can definitely see a baby in the pictures at 10 weeks. Yay!!!

In other news, it looks a lot more likely that we may be able to buy a house in the DFW area when we move. Instead of the 25% down that the mortgage company had quoted us we are looking at 10% max, and probably more like 3%! That seems way more do-able. Now I can start daydreaming about nursery painting :).

One advise question: any tips for eating veggies when NOTHING really sounds good? I seem to be able to get some fruit, but veggies are the real challenge. Thanks!

Oh my goodness! Everyone says that you are going to be tired, but this is a whole other level of tired that isn't even discribable in words. I slept from 5-7 and 9-5:30 last night and I still feel like a zombie. Poor, sweet Pat has been doing EVERYTHING at home for us. He's doing the budget, cooking the meals, cleaning, everything. He is so amazing, but I can't help but appologize to him every 5 minutes (when I'm awake at least).

I guess I just need to keep remembering that at the end of all of this is a beautiful baby that I will love more than my heart even knows yet.

Any advice on fighting the fatigue?

We had a little scare yesterday and today, but after a visit to the doctor today, all is well. I did however, decide to use my primary care physicians' group instead of the OB I had picked, Dr. Gayle. His office just seems a little too busy and unattentive for me. I think he's got too good of a reputation, good for him, bad for me.

I decided to use Dr. David Damian of Brazos Physicians' Group. He was very attentive and kind. We did an ultrasound today and saw a little circle, the 'sack'. It's amazing how happy I was to see such a tiny little thing. He also told me that I am 8 weeks along and that I am officially due on May 7. My 1st OB appointment with him will be in about 2 weeks.

1. I can pop my ankles on command. This is probably not so great since it's probably my ligaments or something breaking down, but interesting none the less.

blood test

I heard from the doctor today about my second blood test. She said that my hormones are doubling just like they are supposed to be and according to the test I am "3 weeks" pregnant. However, they set my date differently (according to my last period) and I will probably be 5 weeks along officially. I think I'm going to get in contact with Dr. Gayle in College Station for my OBGYN. Lacy Kelso ( a pre-k teacher at my school and a great friend) said he's really good and she knows a bunch of ladies who have used him. He's right next to the hospital too which would be very nice.

So far, still no morning sickness. Knock on wood (no really...you better be knocking for me!). I am just a bit more tired than normal today, but that could still be from the cold. On that front, I'm feeling tons better...what a marvel medication is :).

The farther we get into things, the more it looks like we're probably going to be moving back to the DFW area. We are waiting to talk to region VI and make sure that Pat's teacher certification program can be transfer ed up there, but we are seeing a lot of benefits to moving. My mom is home all day and would love to watch the baby and we just have so much support from friends and family up there. It is going to be really really hard to leave my school and our friends down here though. I never thought I'd be leaving such an amazing school after just 2 years, but I guess it's just like they say...a baby changes EVERYTHING!

Please pray for us as we make many decisions about life.

We'll see who finds this blog before I officially announce it....our life seems as if we've gone in to a wonderful and blissful fast-forward. I'M PREGNANT! I really can't believe that in only 8 months or so we'll have a baby in our arms. It is absolutely crazy! We took a home test and a blood test at the doctor on Wednesday and Thursday morning I got the phone call. It was like I could breath again when the nurse said "You are pregnant". It almost feels like I'm in a dream and can't wake up...but I don't really want to. So far no big sickness or discomfort. I'm a little tired and a constant customer of the restroom. Oh and I feel like I can smell EVERYTHING. But nothing bad so far...hope it stays that way! If you find this before my announcement call me!
